Ford F-150 Heritage Blend Door Actuator Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to service and repair the temperature blend door actuator on Ford F-150 Heritage?
A: Safety should be ensured prior to actuator repair through back up supply power depletions to prevent air bag deployment. Disconnecting the ground cable then waiting one minute is necessary followed by removal of any additional batteries if present. When you need to service the floor console from vehicles you must first detach the console but you will need to use tools to remove the floor duct panel by unfastening pin-type retainers while unscrewing an expandable clip. The right-hand instrument panel brake will be detached through the procedure of bracket and nut removal and bolt removal. The left-hand instrument panel needs its lower nut removed before placing the brace in an appropriate area. The restraints control module (RCM) electrical connector must be disconnected along with removing the RCM assembly by dislodging its retaining bolts. You should start with floor duct removal by first unfastening the two screws present at each side then detach the electronic blend door actuator by removing screws and disconnecting the connector before pulling downward to release the actuator shaft. To install the electronic blend door actuator connect its shaft first and then attach screws and connect the power connector. Fasten the floor duct back in place by using the two screws and verify that the RCM retaining bolts receive the correct torque value to enable proper system functioning. To install the next stage you should put back the RCM and bracket assembly after joining the RCM electrical connector and tightening both the left-hand instrument panel lower nut and right-hand instrument panel brace. End the replacement by attaching the floor duct panel through its pin-type retainers and expander clip and for vehicles with consoles reattach them before reconnecting the battery ground cable.
