How to Service and Repair the 6R80 Floor Shift Cable on Ford F-150?

The 6R80 floor shift shift cable requires servicing and repair which should begin by placing the vehicle in neutral position on a hoist. Use an appropriate tool to remove the instrument panel to floor console finish panel before moving on to remove the console upper trim panel, console tray, then cup holder inserts. The first step begins by disconnecting the shift cable from the shift lever arm before removing the center console LH kick panel. The second step requires disconnecting the shift cable from the shift cable bracket before pushing the rubber grommet along with the shift cable through the floor panel. Remove the manual control lever and shift cable bracket from touching each other. Use your fingers to move the locking tab which will release the shift cable from the manual control lever.
