A technician should perform bumper cover replacement when the vehicle sits on a hoist with its transmission shifting to NEUTRAL. Regularize these procedures when changing the rear bumper cover. You must first remove the rear tail lamps then you must remove all six rear bumper cover wheelhouse screws that are distributed evenly across the three positions on each side. Finish by tightening these screws to 2 Nm (18 lb-in). Remove first the pair of scrivets situated beside the license plate behind the bumper cover before proceeding to detach the five scrivets running across the lower luggage opening. The process of bumper cover removal requires detaching it from both left-hand and right-hand mounting reinforcement points as you gently stretch the upper rear area away from its mounting position. Detach the rear parking aid electrical connector harness from the bumper cover since these components need to stay mounted on the cover before removing it. Check for damages on the bumper cover mounting reinforcements after removal then replace any broken parts. The installation of the new bumper cover follows the steps for removing it in reverse order.
