    Q: How to program the remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitters on Ford Focus?
    A: Programming of remote keyless entry (RKE) transmitters requires four simultaneous devices yet must be done when the battery is fully powered up and the anti-theft system remains disarmed. Start by using electronic door unlocking followed by door closure to prevent contradictory chimes from sounding. Execute the Ignition Switch four times between the off and run positions throughout six seconds before resetting it back to off. A single sound signals that you have moved into the learning mode. The new RKE transmitter code programming process completes successfully after pressing any button on the programmed device within 20 seconds and hearing a confirmation tone. The learning mode will re-initiate itself after each successful programming session for another 20 seconds to allow programming four transmitters. The programming process for supplementary transmitters requires repeated button execution inside the allotted time span. The system concludes the learning phase either when a user turns the ignition to RUN position or reaches 20 seconds without adding new transmitters or makes 4 successful programming attempts. When programming incorrectly the stored codes remain unaffected while new RKE transmitters will be the only accepted ones. Perform a final test of all programmed RKE transmitters through the remote locking and unlocking functions.
