Ford Freestar A/C Condenser Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service and Repair the A/C Condenser Core on Ford Freestar?
A: The first step to repair the HVAC condenser core requires positioning the vehicle on a hoist set to neutral gear. First remove the refrigerant then take off the condenser outlet fitting nut; discard its O-ring seal while installing a new one with torque to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). Start by uninstalling five bumper cover screws and the condenser inlet fitting nut while discarding its O-ring seal to tighten the new one at the same specification. Before installation detach the compressor manifold and tube bracket bolt while also removing the cooler line clip and the line routing clips that fasten to the lower radiator support. First properly support the lower radiator support and remove its four bolts before supporting the cooling module to take out the support. Start by disassembling the condenser core through the removal of its two bracket bolts and then remove the two condenser brackets. The installation should follow the reversal of removal steps while including new O-ring seals and proper PAG oil clean-up of the refrigerant system. The refrigerant system requires evacuation and testing after which it needs charging.
