How to Service and Repair the Power Steering Hose to Fluid Cooler Return on Ford Freestyle?

Initial steps for servicing the steering gear to fluid cooler return hose require removal of the radiator grille. Placing the power steering return line-to-fluid cooler hose into a suitable container requires releasing the clamp first before disconnecting it from the hose. Place the vehicle in NEUTRAL position then position it on a hoist. When power steering lines disconnect from the steering gear it is mandatory to install fresh O-ring seals. You must first uninstall the power steering line clamp plate bolt before rotating the clamp plate and separating the power steering return line from the power steering gear by throwing out the old O-ring seal. Installation of power steering connections should result in a torque of 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). It is necessary to remove the three power steering return line bracket-to-frame bolts before installation you must fasten them at 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). The process can finish through return steps of removal and installation of a new O-ring seal followed by filling the power steering system.
