The Power Steering Pump is suitable in Ford Fusion automobiles since it is used in converting supply energy from the engine into hydraulic to enable easier steering. This pump works on the principle of establishing fluid pressure that help the driver in controlling the direction of the vehicle especially at slow movement or when still. Hydraulic and EPAS were used in Ford Fusion models over the years of the model's production and evolution. In hydraulic systems there is a hydraulic pump which is engine driven while in electric systems, there are motors. The primary difference to be found here is a subject of how electricity is delivered, where hydraulic ones will give a mechanical connection thru a series of hydraulic components and electric systems will prove to be flexible and efficient further. In general, the responsibilities of Power Steering Pump also underline the principal function as an important component to provide the comfortable ride in cars of brand Ford Fusion.

Ford Fusion Power Steering Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the power steering pump for the 2.3L engine on Ford Fusion?
    A:
A proper suction device needs to empty the power steering fluid from the reservoir before starting power steering pump maintenance on the 2.3L engine. First detach the accessory Drive Belt before releasing the clamp to disconnect the power steering return hose from the fluid reservoir. Disconnect the power steering pressure switch electrical connector before removing the pressure line banjo bolt and disconnecting the line while discarding both components. During installation of the new line apply torque to the new bolt until it reaches 35 lb-ft (48 Nm). Follow by separating the power steering pump with its three bolts before pulling out the pump and fasten new bolts that need tightening at 24 Nm (18 lb-ft). One must always replace both a new bolt and new seals when disconnecting the power steering pressure line from the pump to avoid fluid leakage. The power steering system filling process should be done after following all removal steps backward.
