In order to service the trunk or liftgate hinge, torsion bars should be adjusted with the door closed. On standard settings, the left-hand torsion bar should be on the inside notch with the right-hand in the outside notch. Alternatively, move each to the outer notch to add tension and to the inner notch to add tension.

How to service and repair the trunk or liftgate hinge on Ford Mustang?

In order to service the trunk or liftgate hinge, remove the electrical connector, lift cylinder and hinge bolt, and lift nuts and sealers (where necessary). To install, go back in reverse and use new sealer in case it was taken off.
