The next step involved removing two nuts that hold the tailgate handle and on completion the nuts require tightening to 9 Nm (80 lb-in). To install the tailgate handle properly replace it by executing the reverse steps of removal.

Start repair and servicing of the tailgate handle by unscrewing the 8 cover access screws then tighten them to 5 Nm when reinstalling.
