Service of the lumbar control switch requires the SRS to be disabled prior to start any work. The first step involves removing the clip followed by the handle along with a screw located at the rear of the cushion side shield. Tug the retainer clip on the cushion side shield to free both retaining components along with the pin-type retainer before detaching the shield at its sides. Locking the lumbar control switch needs users to disconnect it from the cushion side shield while freeing the retainers before removing the switch from its position. Check the condition of the retaining clips on the cushion side shield then replace the clips when damage is detected. At the end of the process clients need to execute removal steps in reverse order and restart SRS operation. The check of the air bag warning indicator should show as illuminated when you remove the restraints control module (RCM) fuse while the
Ignition Switch remains ON since this condition represents standard system operation without indicating SRS failure. The vehicle cannot be handed to customers unless the SRS demonstrates full functionality and free of operational problems.
