The replacement of an A/C accumulator becomes necessary only when contaminants reach the device from system compressor failure or when there is evidence of leaks or shell or desiccant damage. Container replacement is also needed to prevent moisture contamination following complete refrigerant discharge leading to pressure equalization for over one hour. Refrigerant pressure higher than zero warrants no replacement of the A/C accumulator.
