    Q: How is the evaporator core serviced as a core and housing assembly on Lincoln Continental?
    A: Customers can receive service for the evaporator core by replacing both the evaporator core and its housing with its integral components including the core and internal doors along with signals and door linkage mechanisms. To start service the rear seat airflow duct and instrument panel should come off first. Remove coolant from the Radiator until it sits beneath Heater Core level then recover all refrigerant up to specifications. First disconnect the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) electrical connector before removing heater water hoses from the heater core and finally the vacuum supply hose. The service technician proceeds by separating the spring lock couplings between the evaporator and accumulator tubes from the A/C evaporator core and disconnects its housing electrical connectors. The installation requires removing nuts and washers at the cowl panel followed by screws and the A/C evaporator housing then screws for the metal cover and screws for the A/C electronic Blend Door Actuator. Take the A/C air intake flue damper assist spring away while depressing the locking ramp of the A/C damper door shaft until extraction of the shaft from air temperature control door shaft is complete without breaking the fragile A/C damper door shaft. The A/C evaporator case outlet door shaft together with the A/C tube dash panel seal and the A/C evaporator drain tube seal need to be removed. To install the A/C evaporator core replacement begin by applying PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) or equivalent to the correct amount then continue by installing the A/C tube dash panel seal followed by the A/C evaporator drain tube seal. You should put the A/C electronic blend door actuator along with the metal cover before installing the A/C evaporator housing and its screws, then installing the nuts with washers at the cowl panel. Construct the electrical connectors of the evaporator housing followed by joining the tube connections between condenser and evaporator and between evaporator and accumulator and attaching the spring lock couplings and vacuum supply hose. Change the position of the heater water hoses while cleaning them with MERPOL(R) solution or plain water for lubrication. First reinstate the PCM electrical connector and then install the instrument panel followed by the rear seat airflow duct. The last step includes filling the engine cooling system and performing evacuation and pressure charging processes on the A/C system.
