The first step to remove the intake manifold is to disconnect the battery ground cable and drain the engine cooling system. After disconnecting the fuel line you should remove the air cleaner outlet tube. Start by removing the two nuts which secure the engine sensor control wiring to the valve covers and then take off the nut and bolt which will position the generator battery lead out of the way before disconnected the generator electrical connector and finally removing the generator mounting bracket by removing its bolts and nuts. The first step should be disconnecting coolant hoses from both the water bypass tube and Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor connector before removing stud hardware and tossing away the O-rings. You must disconnect the
Mass Air Flow Sensor connector from the accelerator snow shield before you take off the shield by removing its bolt and pushpin. After that you should disconnect the
Accelerator Cable and speed control actuator cable from the
Throttle Body. You must first remove the bolts along with the accelerator cable bracket before disconnecting the chassis vacuum supply tube and positive crankcase ventilation tube and engine vacuum supply line. The procedure requires removal of the
Fuel Pressure Sensor vacuum line together with its electrical connector while also requiring separation of the evaporative emissions return line and the heater water hose. Remove the vacuum lines which attach to the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) vacuum regulator solenoid and also remove the vacuum line from the
EGR Valve. Detach the engine wiring harness covers followed by disconnecting all electrical connectors that lead to eight
Fuel Injectors and Idle Air Control (IAC) valve, Throttle Position (TP) sensor and Mass Airflow (MAF) sensor wiring sensors. During engine maintenance disconnect the EGR tube from its location at the EGR valve and at both the
Ignition Coils and starter electrical connectors. Position the engine wiring harness aside after removing its holders mounted on the intake manifold studs. Follow this sequence to ease and remove the intake manifold bolts and studs at three stages which allows you to detach the assembly and discard the gaskets. Uninstall the EGR valve by removing its bolts followed by the idle air control valve and throttle body gun. Gasket replacement may be necessary during the process. First clean all sealing surfaces before you remove four bolts that disconnect the fuel manifold together with its fuel injectors unit.
