    Q:
How to service the knock sensor (KS) on Ford Edge? Posted by Customer
    A:
The service of the knock sensor (KS) requires starting by taking out the thermostat housing before removing the lower intake manifold and coolant tube and discarding the O-ring seal. You need to disconnect the KS electrical connector and then remove its securing two bolts. Follow these steps for installing the new knock sensor by lubricating its new O-ring with clean engine coolant and securing the bolts to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft) torque. Then execute the bolts' removal procedure in reverse order.

    Q:
How to service the Knock Sensor (KS) on Ford Flex? Posted by Customer
    A:
The Knock Sensor service starts with removing the thermostat housing before taking out the lower intake manifold and coolant tube while discarding the O-ring seal. Disable the KS electrical connector before removing the two bolts that fasten the KS. Before installing the new KS users should tighten the bolts to 20 Nm (177 lb-in) and apply clean engine coolant to the new O-ring seal. To finish the installation worked in the opposite direction of the removal steps. The coolant requirements differ between vehicles made before (Motorcraft® Premium Gold Engine Coolant) and after (Motorcraft® Specialty Green Engine Coolant) January 19, 2009 because their mixture can reduce anti-corrosion protection and harm engine and cooling system components.

    Q:
How to service and repair the Knock Sensor (KS) on Lincoln MKS? Posted by Customer
    A:
Early built vehicles prior to May 18, 2009 use Motorcraft® Premium Gold Engine Coolant whereas vehicles built later than this date use Motorcraft® Specialty Green Engine Coolant; these two types must not be mixed as it will degrade corrosion protection and can damage engine components and cooling system components. The repair starts with removing the thermostat housing next to the removal of the lower intake manifold and coolant tube before discarding the O-ring seal. Start by disconnecting the KS electrical connector then remove the two securing bolts of the KS. Install the new KS by tightening bolts to 20 Nm (177 lb-in) and apply engine coolant to the O-ring seal before you finish installation by removing hardware in reverse order.

    Q:
How to service the Knock Sensor (KS) on Lincoln MKZ? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service of the Knock Sensor (KS) starts with removing the thermostat housing followed by taking off the lower intake manifold and the coolant tube. Uninstall the O-ring seal while also detaching the electrical connector of the KS. The entire process of installing or removing the KS should use hand tools to stop damage from occurring. The two bolts that anchor the KS should be removed for servicing then torque them to a tightness of 20 Nm (177 lb-in) during installation. Security of replacement requires the O-ring seal to receive engine coolant lubrication followed by its placement during installation.
