  Protection must be taken in fuel component servicing because open flames or any smoking activity poses danger when near flammable fuel mixtures. Disconnecting any fuel tube or component requires relieving the fuel system pressure to stop accidental fuel spraying since the system maintains high pressure even after engine shutdown. Start the process by disconnecting the battery ground cable followed by release of fuel system pressure. Start by removing the upper intake manifold before disconnecting both the fuel tube-to-Fuel Rail quick connect coupling and the six fuel injector electrical connectors. The procedure requires you to first remove the four rail bolts before extracting the fuel rail and injectors which should be handled as one unit. The twelve fuel injector O-ring seals should be removed then discarded while replacement must include new fuel-resistant special material O-ring seals since ordinary O-rings can potentially produce leaks. Either of the sealing rings used above or below in the assembly have specific positions and require clean engine oil to lubricate freshly installed new seals. Reinstall six fuel injectors along with their clips inside the fuel rail before reattaching the combined assembly using four bolts that should be tightened to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). First reconnect the battery ground cable followed by installation of the upper intake manifold before proceeding with six fuel injector electrical connector and fuel tube-to-fuel rail quick connect coupling connection.
