    Q: How Should the A/C Accumulator Be Serviced and Repaired on Lincoln MKZ?
    A: Service and repair operations of the A/C accumulator require controlled exposure to outside air because installations should happen at the end of working on multiple A/C components. After installing the new A/C accumulator, manufacturers recommend keeping it in its protective package before starting A/C system evacuation to stop moisture infiltration of the desiccant. A new A/C accumulator must be installed only when physical contamination of failed A/C compressors or accumulator damage is obvious. Such damage includes both physical damage and moisture contamination that occurs after complete refrigerant loss and over one hour of atmospheric pressure equalization. The accumulator remains intact when there exists any trace of positive refrigerant pressure prior to maintenance operations. Start by recovering the refrigerant before hoisting the vehicle in neutral position while detaching the lower radiator Air Deflector. The plastic A/C accumulator cap requires unscrewing followed by cap removal while using a vacuum opening on the refrigerant system fitting to release the vacuum before retrying plug removal. The A/C accumulator plug requires an upward push to remove its snap ring so users can install the bolt from A/C desiccant cartridge service kit into the center of the accumulator plug and extract it more easily. A suitable tool enables you to remove the A/C accumulator by pulling on the grab handle. The installation process requires first lubricating the A/C accumulator plug O-ring seals with remaining refrigerant oil before reinstalling the bolt from the A/C desiccant cartridge service kit in the middle of the accumulator to extract the plug. The conclusion of the procedure includes evacuating, conducting leak tests, and charging the reaction system.
