Lincoln Town Car Power Steering Hose Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to Service and Repair the Power Steering Hose on Lincoln Town Car?
A: Service and repair of the power steering line and hose starts with parking the vehicle in NEUTRAL on a hoist. Replacement of new O-ring seals becomes necessary whenever the steering gear lines undergo disconnection for leak prevention reasons. Start by taking out the steering line clamp plate bolt and then remove both pressure and return tubes from their fittings before discarding previous O-ring seals. Work to remove all Teflon O-ring seals that remain in the gear ports of the steering gear along with the turn tubes at the removal stage. Smoothly position the new steering gear turn tubes into their places before tightening each one to 22 Nm (16 lb-ft). A fresh O-ring seal must be put into place before fitting a new component at all times. Conduct the opposite steps for reinstallation and then complete the power steering system fill-up. The mechanic should apply torque of 21 Nm (15 lb-ft) to the pressure and return lines during installation.
