It is necessary to stay away from smoking and open flames near fuel-related components because highly flammable mixtures at the fuel rail can cause personal harm. A proper safety measure includes removing fuel system pressure through proper procedures before unconnecting fuel tubes and components because the system maintains high pressure during engine shutdown. The first step requires opening fuel system pressure together with
Battery Cable removal. The first procedure requires the upper intake manifold removal along with the quick connect closing the fuel tube from the fuel rail. Engine professionals should start by removing power from the ECT sensor then unfasten harness retainers from the left-hand valve cover stud bolts and disconnect the six fuel injector plugs. Detach both pin-type retainers from the wiring harness cover and the four fuel rail bolts before extracting the fuel rail assembly with its injectors. Discard all twelve fuel injector O-ring seals then replace them with new special fuel-resistant O-ring seals which must not include old or used parts. Clean engine oil should serve to lubricate new O-ring seals before six fuel injectors and their clips go into the fuel rail. Reinstall both the fuel rail and injectors together through their four mounting bolts that should be tightened to 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Install the wiring harness cover with the two pin-type retainers while continuing the installation of six fuel injector electrical connectors and two wire harness retainers on left valve cover stud bolts. The ECT sensor electrical connector along with the fuel tube quick connect coupling needs to be connected to the fuel rail first then you can put in the upper intake manifold while reattaching the battery ground cable.
