Before continuing disconnect the rear parking brake cables from the equalizer while unfastering the parking brake control adjusting nut. Place the vehicle in NEUTRAL position then mount it on a hoist before removing the heat shield by removing its 6 retaining nuts and 2 pin-type retainers. The service requires removal of two parking brake cable routing bracket nuts while installation demands a tight torque of 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.). For reinstallation tighten the 6 parking brake cable routing bracket bolts to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.). Complete removal of the cables requires first disconnecting the rear parking brake cables from the calipers through the removal of 2 clips. Reverse the uninstallation procedure while adjusting the parking brake cable according to specifications.
