Mercury Grand Marquis Fan Motor Parts Questions & Experts Answers
Q: How to service the radiator cooling fan motor and shroud on Mercury Grand Marquis?
A: The service procedure for a radiator cooling fan motor and shroud begins with turning off the fire suppression system if present and disconnecting the Battery Cable. The Power Steering Reservoir needs its bolt removed while also draining the cooling system before storing the components aside. Reinstall this bolt with a torque of 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). First disconnect the hoses linking the degas bottle to supply and overflow while removing and returning the degas bottle bolt at 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) torque. The upper radiator hose requires disconnect while the transmission cooler tubes need removal from the cooling fan motor alongside the shroud. Rest the lower radiator hose securely out of the way before you disconnect the electrical connector leading to the motor and shroud unit. The cooling fan motor and shroud assembly requires two bolts which you should tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.) when reinstalling. Repower the fire suppression system only if it exists before you finish the installation but always complete the cooling system filling and bleeding procedures.
