Insert the fuel pump by torquing its six bolts to reach 10 Nm (89 lb-in). Remove the old fuel pump mounting gasket from the assembly which involves checking the surfaces of the fuel pump module flange for contact with the fuel tank seal contact areas. Avoid any surface adjustment or polishing steps on these areas. A new fuel tank or fuel pump module needs installation when any part of the fuel tank seal contact areas shows bending damage or scratches or corrosion.
