How to service and repair the automatic transmission shifter on Mercury Mariner?

To fix the automatic transmission shifter, position the selector lever in (D), trim ring and center console tray. Unplug the connectors and the cable of the selector lever. In the case of AWD, eliminate the AWD module. Install the selector lever assembly back, tighten it and then reconnect everything, re-adjusting the shift cable where necessary.
