How to service the flywheel on Mercury Mariner?

The flywheel servicing procedure starts with placing the vehicle in NEUTRAL position while positioning it on a hoist. The first step is manual transaxle removal with clutch extraction while removing the 6 flywheel retaining bolts. Special bolts should be used during installation because they provide better performance. Perform flywheel installation using the following bolt-tightening process: start by tightening to 50 Nm (37 ft. lbs.) and moving to 80 Nm (50 ft. lbs.) followed by 112 Nm (83 ft. lbs.). Secure the flywheel first before putting back the manual transaxle alongside the clutch.
