How to Service the Camshaft Position Sensor on Mercury Mariner?

The first step for servicing the camshaft position (CMP) sensor requires disconnecting its electrical connector. Before removal you must remove the bolt retaining the CMP sensor followed by sensor removal. The new sensor should be installed by tightening it to 7 Nm (62 lb-in) torque specification and checking the O-ring seal for replacement if needed. Clean engine oil must be used to lubricate the O-ring seal before putting it into place on the sensor. You should perform the reverse steps of removal to finish the installation process.
