How to service the ignition coil-on-plug on Mercury Mariner?

The first step to service ignition coil-on-plug includes disconnecting the four electrical connectors from the ignition coils. The removing process of ignition coils requires a twisting movement to detach the seal before extraction. Begin by taking out the four bolts retaining the ignition coils into place. The installation requires tightening the bolts to 8 Nm (71 lb-in). Guardian will inspect coil seals for damages then dispose of any seals discovered to be torn or nicked. Insert new coil seals into each coil component until they reach complete position on the top end. At the conclusion of installation return to the contrary process and spread dielectric grease on the ignition coil boots interiors before reconnecting them to the spark plugs.
