How to service the Engine Control Module on Mercury Mariner?

The first step for Engine Control Module service calls for disconnecting the battery ground cable. Start by unfastening the powertrain control module (PCM) stud bolt nut before setting the wiring harness to the side. You should disconnect the three PCM electrical connectors followed by removing the two stud bolts which secure the PCM. Reinstallation requires installation of stud bolts to a torque of 9 Nm (80 lb-in). After removal of the PCM cowl seal follow the opposite removal steps while tightening the stud bolts to 9 Nm (80 lb-in).
