How to Service and Repair the Sway Bar Bushing on Mercury Mariner?

The first step to servicing or repairing the sway bar bushing requires the vehicle to be in NEUTRAL position on a hoist. Remove the sway bar bushing bracket by taking out its two bracket bolts together with the sway bar bushing bracket. Then discard the bolts. Tighten new bolts to a torque value of 70 Nm (52 lb-ft). Examine the sway bar bushing for signs of wear; change it with a new one if existence of wear is detected. Reinstallation requires completing the opposite procedure to restore correct sway bar bushing assembly with bushing flanges oriented upwards and bushing splits facing forward. To avoid performance problems the technician must use new parts that match the original equipment part numbers or equivalent designs. Correct retention of essential components depends on using proper torque values during reinstallation.
