Service and maintenance of the evaporative emission control canister starts by positioning the motor vehicle into neutral on a hoist. Following the procedures disconnect the
Battery Cable ground connection to prevent fuel vapor ignition by electrical sparks. The service requires users to remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister vent solenoid electrical connector and unfasten the fuel vapor hose from the dust separator. First detach the fuel vapor tube quick connect coupling from the EVAP canister before removing two nuts and three bolts that fasten the EVAP canister assembly. For the new canister installation users must tighten all fasteners to 7 Nm (62 lb-in) before reversing their removal steps. A leak test for the evaporative emission system should be performed after installation and a necessary repair verification drive cycle should be completed.
