Mercury Montego Water Pump is one of the most known and trusted spare parts used reliably and produced with high performance that contributes significantly to engine working parameters and reliability of a car of the given brand Montego and other its modifications. The main function of this Water Pump is to pump water via water jacket across the engine swept volume where heat produced during combustion is absorbed then circulated to the Radiator to be expelled and cooled. Originally made of cast iron, current Mercury Montego Water Pump mainly comprises lightweight aluminum castings for endurance and performance. It also consists of a rotary shaft with an impeller for the delivery of the coolant for proper temperature regulation of the engine. Specifically, Water Pump is designed for the varied generations of Mercury Montego, starting with the early models released in 1968 and up to the contemporary Montego of 2007. This helped to underline the importance of its use in the automobiles' industry because it meets all the varying performance requirements. Also, the new generation electric Water Pumps for some models can pump coolant at the same, or even higher rate selectively, thus even if the engine stops, it can still pump water. This feature is especially important in high-performance applications and thus makes Mercury Montego Water Pump to stand out from the competition. As a result, the Mercury Montego Water Pump stays as a dependable option to Montego drivers to improve their car safety and get the optimal performance on the highways.

Mercury Montego Water Pump Parts and Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Water Pump on Mercury Montego?
    A:
Service and repair of the coolant pump requires draining the cooling system first. Begin by taking out the air cleaner assembly followed by detachment of the Thermostat Housing-to-bypass tube hose before setting it aside. The two thermostat housing bolts should be removed before putting the thermostat housing to one side after discarding the O-ring seal. Reinstall the thermostat housing bolts by adjusting them to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). Remove the coolant pump hose and properly place it to the side. A new sealing washer should always replace the center coolant pump bolt's washer when the bolt needs removal. The coolant pump requires removal of its four bolts before pulling out the pump itself. Begin coolant pump bolt installation by securing the center bolt to 4 Nm (35 inch lbs.) and afterward install the outer bolts loosely. Proceed to tighten the center bolt to 25 Nm (18 ft. lbs.) while the three outer bolts need torque to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.). The installation completion requires you to install both a new sealing washer on the center coolant pump bolt along with a new O-ring seal on the thermostat housing with clean engine coolant applied for lubrication. Complete the cooling system filling operation and perform a bleeding procedure.
