How to service the oil cooler on Mercury Mountaineer?

Service procedures for the oil cooler must begin with the vehicle set to NEUTRAL and located on a hoist. The cooling system first requires draining followed by removal of the oil filter which becomes waste. The new oil filter requires tightening to 13 Nm (10 ft. lbs.). The next step requires disconnecting both hoses which connect the oil cooler to the inlet and heater. The threaded insert requires loosening before removing the oil cooler. For reinstallation you should tighten it to 57 Nm (42 ft. lbs.). To finish the procedure you must reinstall the new oil filter before checking the engine oil and filling to proper capacity.
