Mercury Mountaineer Power Steering Cooler Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How to Service the Power Steering Cooler on Mercury Mountaineer?
A: Raising the vehicle and supporting it first will start the process of servicing the power steering cooler. The power steering gear-to-cooler hose requires disconnection by loosening its clamp to drain fluid into an appropriate container. After disconnecting the cooler-to-reservoir hose, you should loosen its clamp. Start the process by unfastening the bolts which secure the power steering cooler. Attach the gear-to-cooler hose to the top inlet position and the cooler-to-reservoir hose to the bottom outlet of the power steering cooler when reinstalling it. Perform a leak test after filling and purging the system before finishing with a reverse order of removal steps for proper operation verification.
