The procedure to service brake shoes starts by loosening wheel nuts followed by vehicle lift before safe vehicle support. Users should start the process by freeing the brake shoes then removing the
Brake Drum after wheel removal. Any present retainer components should also be removed when possible. Inspect the wheel hub flange position before removing hold-down clips and disconnecting the
Parking Brake Cable which exploits its interface with the secondary shoe. Cautiously remove the lower retracting spring from the
Wheel Cylinder and disconnect the shoes before the anchor block while avoiding any damage to wheel cylinder boots. Secure the wheel cylinder pistons with a rubber band before taking out the upper retracting spring. Separate the primary shoe from the strut and brake shoe adjuster by rotating the auto-adjuster counterclockwise before disconnecting the secondary shoe from the strut support while paying attention to the tension in the strut support spring. Pull out the parking brake return spring from its position. To install the parking brake return spring start by applying Silicon Dielectric Compound D742-18A331-A to the backing plate contact points using new shoes. Cork the secondary shoe against the strut before fixing it to the brake shoe adjuster then place the primary shoe into position before rotating the auto-adjuster completely to the clockwise direction. Start by installing the upper retracting spring after removing a rubber band from wheel cylinder pistons and installing the shoes to the wheel cylinder before adding the anchor block followed by the lower retracting spring. To complete the procedure you must fasten the shoes to the anchor block and install hold down spring clips afterward reconnect the parking brake cable by first detaching the secondary shoe before reattachment. Finish the process by putting the brake drum along with wheel before performing brake pedal operation to adjust the brake shoe position.
