    Q: What Precautions Should Be Taken Before Servicing the Ride Height Sensor on Mercury Grand Marquis?
    A: It is essential to disable electrical power to the air suspension system before servicing a suspension height sensor due to safety reasons which include unexpected air spring inflation or deflation that can lead to vehicle movement and severe injuries. New suspension parts need to match the same part number or equivalent during replacement because the essential components rely on these fasteners for their performance. Specific torque values need to be followed during reassembly in order to achieve proper retention. Begin with the air suspension service switch turned off before you set the vehicle to NEUTRAL on a hoist. First disconnect the battery ground cable then proceed with removing the suspension height sensor electrical connector and the connecting link. Each height sensor bracket needs to lose its bolts and the height sensor should follow before new sensor installation where torque should reach 25 Nm (18 lb-ft). Complete the opposite operations by reinstalling the vehicle and modifying the height sensor if necessary.
