How to service and repair the Steering Shaft intermediate on Mercury Sable?

In order to service the steering column shaft intermediate, make sure that the vehicle is in neutral on a hoist. A steering wheel holder can be used to hold it straight. Take off the trim panel, the bolts, and nuts, and torque them to the required value on reassembling them. Clock spring damage should be avoided and so the shaft should not be rotated.
