How to service the steering wheel safely and correctly on Mercury Sable?

In order to service the steering wheel, disconnect the battery and turn off the SRS. Open access door, de-electric connectors and ensure the steering wheel is removed carefully. Rotate the pinion shaft 120-130 turns to get free. Note serial numbers of new parts, wire route them properly and re-connect it all and re-enable the SRS.

How to service the steering wheel on Mercury Sable?

To remove the steering wheel, place it on a straight position and take away the key of the ignition. Unscrew the driver air bag module, throw the steering wheel bolt away and screw in a new bolt but tightened to 47 Nm (35 lb-ft). Unplug steering wheel switches, and reconnect the parts.
