    Q:
How to service and repair the upper control arm on Lincoln Zephyr? Posted by Customer
    A:
Service and repairs of upper control arms should begin by securing the vehicle into NEUTRAL position on a hoist. The shock absorber lower bolt together with the flag nut should be removed followed by new components installation while tightening them to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.) at the bushing fastener tightening position. You should use a suitable jack to lift the trailing arm before removing the upper arm outboard bolt which gets replaced by a new bolt while maintaining 110 Nm (81 ft. lbs.) tension during installation when the suspension is at the bushing fastener tightening position. Lower the trailing arm with care before removing the jack from beneath it. The shock absorber needs adjustment to access the upper arm before discarding the inboard bolt to separate the upper arm. Tighten the new inboard bolt to 110 Nm (81 ft. lbs.) by positioning the suspension at the bushing fastener tightening position. A compatible jack should elevate the suspension to the bushing fastener tightening position by raising it until the hub-center measures 395 mm from the fender edge. When installing close the procedure by returning the vehicle and check the camber position while making any needed adjustments.
