Front Lower Control Arm

The first step in lower control arm servicing requires removing the spring from the assembly. The first step involves removing the cam adjuster nut then the cam adjuster followed by the cam bolt and lower arm with disposal of the nut. Before installing the new lower arm position the suspension at its bushing fastener tightening position while torquing the cam adjuster nut to 101 Nm (74 ft. lbs.). Before tightening any suspension bushing fasteners it is necessary to lift the suspension with a suitable jack until you reach 395 mm (15.55 inches) distance between hub center and fender lip. Tightening the cam adjuster nut must wait until you perform the rear alignment check and required adjustments. Reverse the removal steps while placing the cam bolt and cam adjuster at the upper cam position. The replacement of parts must always include new components bearing the same part numbers because inferior replacements and substitute designs can trigger severe service-related problems. The specified torque values must be maintained precisely because they determine the proper attachment of essential suspension components.

Reverse the removal procedure for installation and check the rear camber, adjusting if necessary.

Use a suitable jack to raise the suspension until the distance between the center of the hub and the lip of the fender measures 395 mm (15.55 inches).

Remove and discard the shock absorber lower bolt and flag nut, then install a new one, tightening it to 115 Nm (85 ft. lbs.) with the suspension at the bushing fastener tightening position.
