Personal injury can occur from the flammable fuel mixtures in the fuel injector therefore avoid smokers and open flame equipment around all fuel components when servicing. Believing that the fuel system pressure will decrease automatically is wrong because it maintains high pressure when the engine stops operation which can cause harm unless you lower it first before disconnecting any fuel-related parts. The disconnected fuel lines should be plugged to stop leakage. Start the procedure by taking off the engine cover and air cleaner assembly before you drain the fuel system pressure. The service routine starts with removing the upper intake manifold before disconnecting both the fuel lines through their fuel pressure regulator valve vacuum hose. Unplug the six fuel injector electrical connectors but understand that although one connector is displayed all connectors match the same design. Task one requires removing the fuel injection supply manifold bolts and then extracting the six fuel injector retaining clips and fuel injectors while inspecting the O-rings and replacing them with special fuel-resistant O-rings unless the O-rings are leak-free. Reinstallation should be performed in the reverse order of removal while checking that injector clips enter the upper injector groove to avoid fuel leakage. New O-rings require lubrication with clean engine oil including XO-10W30-QSP or DSP along with equivalent products following Ford specification WSS-M2C153-G to enable installation.

It is essential to keep all fuel-related components away from lighted tobacco or open flames since they contain highly flammable mixtures that could result in personal injuries while servicing the fuel injector. Maintaining engine off pressure inside the fuel system requires proper fuel system pressure release before any fuel line or component disconnection to prevent injuries. Start by completing the removal of the fuel injection supply manifold followed by extracting the fuel injectors from it. Examine both O-ring seals on injectors then change them with new components according to need. The installation requires following the reverse steps of removal while using clean Super Premium SAE5W-30 Motor Oil XO-5W30-QSP or equivalent oil approved by Ford WSS-M2C153-G specification to lubricate new O-ring seals.
