The first step to replace the rear door latch requires users to ensure window glass reaches its highest position while disconnecting the window regulator motor connector to stop unintended window operation that poses injury risks. Start by taking out the rear door trim panel then set the watershield to the side. For this procedure disconnect the electrical connector that operates the window regulator and remove the door handle which functions from outside. The procedure demands cutting off power to the rear door latch actuator first while extracting the door lock rod extension from the rod. The installation process involves moving the door lock rod together with its grommet from out of the door panel. Then add the inside door handle cable and its grommet. The exterior door handle reinforcement bolt requires loosening before tightening it to 7 Nm (62 lb-in) in the reassembly stage. Next reinstall the exterior front door handle reinforcement at the vehicle front before sinking it into the door opening. Attendance should focus on removing three rear door latch bolts while you should tighten them to 12 Nm (106 lb-in) before reinstalling. Service technicians should first remove the complete latch assembly from the door before opening the clip to take off the exterior rear door handle actuating rod. The rear door latch removal from the carrier takes place by unclipping it first before extraction. For installment do the reverse procedures.
