Begin heater core maintenance tasks by ensuring your safety through preventing the opening of the cooling system when the engineering is hot or running, because this could lead to injury. Use an appropriate cooling system flusher to backflush the heater core through partial cooling system drainage by employing Motorcraft Cooling System Flush VC-1 or another product that satisfies Ford specification FSR-M14P7-A. Complete the cooling system filling procedure after you finish backflushing.

The service process starts with performing a pressure leak test when there is suspicion of a leak. Start by taking out the instrument panel from its position. You must clamp off then detach the heater core hose couplings. To continue the process remove the A/C plenum demister adapter by first unscrewing it and then extracting both the screw and adapter.
