Service and repair procedures for the automatic transmission shift levers begin with taking out the front floor console. First, disconnect the automatic transmission shift lever cable from its connections at both the automatic transmission shift lever and automatic transmission shift lever housing and the electrical connector and wiring harness from the automatic transmission shift lever housing. The automatic transmission shift lever housing needs removal from the vehicle by removing its four attached nuts. Install the automatic transmission shift lever housing when you lock down the cable locking tabs and put the cable end onto the ball stud. The automatic transmission shift lever cable requires forceful insertion into the bracket to create a click sound before you pull it back to test the locking mechanism. Verify the correct installation of the cable end and then install the automatic transmission shift lever housing while tightening it to 9 Nm (80 lb-inch). The wiring harness and electrical connector need to be connected to the automatic transmission shift lever housing before attaching the automatic transmission shift lever cable onto its housing to link with the automatic transmission shift lever. The front floor console needs to be restored after completion of all procedure steps.

You must start by removing the front floor console in order to perform repair or servicing of the automatic transmission shift levers. Proceed by unfastening the shift lever cable first from the shift lever then from the shift lever housing before disconnecting the electrical connector with the wiring harness from the shift lever housing. First remove the four housing securing nuts before taking the shift lever housing out of the vehicle. Installation begins with stepping up the shift lever cable locking tabs while installing its cable end onto the ball stud. Press the shift lever cable into the bracket to achieve a click sound then check its secure position by pulling back the cable. Examine the function of the shift lever cable end while it rests on the ball stud. The housing requires a torque of 9 Nm (80 inch lbs.) to tighten along with reattachment of electrical connector and wiring harness. Complete the process by attaching the shift lever cable to the housing then connecting it to the shift lever before reinserting the front floor console.
