Free the instrument panel end panel from its location and detach the five right-hand instrument panel trim panel nuts which exist within the instrument panel. The operator must pull the right-hand trim panel away from the clips until it releases then extract it. Reach inside the glove compartment opening to extract the two bolts from the passenger air bag module and free the deployment door clips by avoiding contact with the edges of the deployment door. You must use a small screwdriver to push the locking buttons on the electrical connectors but should never tug on these connectors through their buttons because this may cause damage. When attaching electrical connectors maintain a released position of the locking buttons while matching the key element to the keyway structure inside the passenger air bag module. The passenger air bag module must be installed into the instrument panel using both bolts which require 8 Nm (71 lb-in) torque before reinstalling the right-hand trim panel and its five nuts as well as the instrument panel end panel. The door dampener cable should be reinstalled after closing the glove compartment door while powering up the system.

Insulate the installation of new components by correctly matching electrical connectors to the keyway while also putting locking buttons in released position to avoid damaging parts. The installation of the passenger air bag module to the instrument panel requires two bolts at 8 Nm (71 lb-in) torque before reattaching the trim panels and end panel and reconnecting the door dampener cable while closing the glove compartment and activating the SRS.

However, protective eye safety glasses are mandatory when handling the passenger air bag module to avoid accidental injury during deployment. The air bag module must be handled such that the air bag and deployment door face away from your body and it must never rest with its deployment door aimed downwards. The electrical connection process requires a user to free the locking buttons prior to connector coupling because each component functions as a specific key to match the corresponding keyway on the passenger air bag module. Take the electrical connectors to their full insertion point then press down the locking buttons. When installing the module keep away from its deployment door edges while making sure all placement hooks fit inside the instrument panel correctly. Reattach the right-hand trim panel after setting five nuts followed by end panel installation and rescuing the dampener cable while closing the glove compartment last before powering up the system. Continue by tightening the two bolts on the passenger air bag module to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

Never probe the electrical connectors on air bag modules, and do not repaint discolored or damaged air bag modules; instead, install new ones to ensure proper deployment.
