    Q:
How to Service and Repair the Rear Brake Disc on Ford Fusion? Posted by Customer
    A:
Before beginning repairs of the rear brake rotor/disc always position the vehicle in NEUTRAL standing on a hoist system. Start the brake caliper parking brake cable service by first pulling back the parking brake lever and disconnecting the cable from this lever and lastly by removing the cable conduit retaining clip. The brake caliper should never be suspended by the brake hose during maintenance because damage can occur. The brake caliper assembly consisting of brake caliper anchor plate bolts and brake caliper should be set aside for storage with mechanic's wire maintenance. Then detach the two brake disc screws followed by the brake disc removal. The brake disc-to-hub mounting surface needs to be rust-free from foreign material before applying anti-seize lubricant. Secure the new brake disc by using two brake disc screws which need to be tightened to 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs. force). Safely reposition the brake caliper assembly with brake pads as well as brake anchor plate and bolt in place while tightening bolts to 70 Nm (52 ft. lbs.). Connect the parking brake cable to the brake caliper before stretching the parking brake lever to pull it back. Then attach the cable to the parking brake lever and install its cable conduit retaining clip. A proper functionality test and verification of normal operation should be performed by cycling the parking brake multiple times.

    Q:
How to remove and replace the rear brake disc on Lincoln MKZ? Posted by Customer
    A:
The first step toward brake disc change is to remove the wheel together with its tire. Position the parking brake lever in a backward direction to free up the brake caliper cable which can then be detached from its attachment point alongside the removal of the retaining clip from the cable conduit. Linked connections from the brake caliper should be removed before moving forward. Danger exists when allowing the brake caliper to dangle from the brake hose because this situation might result in brake damage. Set aside the brake caliper assembly with brake caliper anchor plate and brake pads by supporting it with mechanic's wire after removing its two anchor plate bolts. You should take out the two brake disc screws followed by the brake disc. The brake disc-to-hub mounting surface should be checked for rust and foreign material before installing with anti-seize lubricant applied. Stage in the new brake disc before tightening both screws to 20 Nm (15 lb-ft). After verifying there is no twist in the brake caliper hose position the brake caliper along with brake pads and brake caliper anchor plate assembly while tightening the two brake caliper anchor plate bolts to 70 Nm (52 lb-ft). The installation process requires you to reconnect the parking cable to the caliper followed by the lever adjustment before linking it to the parking brake lever. Also reinstall the cable conduit retaining clip. Put on the wheel together with the tire next, complete parking brake cycling to test normal functioning, and execute multiple brake operations to check proper brake performance.

    Q:
How to remove and replace the rear brake disc on Mercury Milan? Posted by Customer
    A:
Start by putting the vehicle into NEUTRAL mode while it rests on a hoist. Dismantle the brake caliper brake cable by first extending the parking brake lever and then pulling the cable from its connection to the lever and taking off the cable connector. Avoid damage by not allowing the brake caliper to drop from the brake hose before you remove the two bolts from the brake caliper anchor plate so you can set the brake caliper assembly including pads and anchor plate supported by mechanic's wire. You should proceed by taking out the two brake disc screws along with the brake disc itself. Before mounting a new brake disc check that the brake disc-to-hub mounting surface lacks corrosion and debris then apply anti-seize lubricant. Use the two brake disc screws to fasten the new brake disc while securing them at 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.). Fitting the brake caliper hose should be untwisted before installing the brake caliper along with brake pads and brake caliper anchor plate assembly while tightening the two anchor plate bolts to 70 Nm (52 ft.lb). The brake caliper receives the parking brake cable connection before a parking brake lever pullback enables the cable connection to the same lever while installing the cable conduit retaining clip. To verify proper operation check the parking brake several times and thoroughly test the brake function after completion.
