Front Impact Sensor

You must disable the SRS system before servicing the front impact severity sensor. Start by uninstalling the front bumper cover and thereafter disconnect the electrical connector linking to the front impact severity sensor. The restraint system safety depends on tightening the fasteners of both the RCM module and impact sensor with their specified torque values to avoid dangerous system malfunctions during crashes. Thoroughly clean the hood latch bracket together with the mating surfaces of the front impact severity sensor before noting down the positions of the two locator tabs for correct assembly. Install the new front impact severity sensor after removing its securing bolt and apply 11 Nm of torque (8 lb-ft). The technician should perform a reverse procedure to reinstall the system components while powering up the SRS until the system shows no faults before releasing the vehicle to the customer. The diagnosis process should be repeated with the original part after the new component fails to solve the problem.

Pull up to release the retaining clips, then detach the retainers to remove the lower B-pillar trim panel.

Always wear safety glasses to minimize the risk of injury from accidental air bag deployment.

Repower the SRS.

To prevent incorrect operation of the restraint system, which could lead to serious injury or death in a crash.

Remove the bolt and the side impact sensor.

Reinstall by reversing the removal steps and repower the system.
