Check the spark plug to see if a bridged gap exists along with examining deposit buildup that can obstruct the electrode gap. Oil or carbon fouling may be the cause of this issue. Proper cleaning of the spark plug must be performed if needed. Anytime you find wet black deposits on the insulator shell bore electrodes you should investigate oil infiltration from worn rings and pistons and loosen valve-to-guide clearances and bearings to avoid such oil leak before installing new spark plugs. A thorough carbon inspection involves examining black dry fluffy carbon buildup on inspection tip surfaces of the insulator and exposed shell spaces and electrodes along with checking for a faulty heat range or dirty air filters or an abundant fuel mixture when idling. New spark plugs might be required for complete resolution. The correct burning appearance consists of light tan or gray residues along the spark plug firing tip. The presence of melted electrodes and damaged insulators with metallic deposits reveals engine damage that occurs from incorrect ignition timing or the wrong type of fuel or when an improper heli-coil insert replaces spark plug threads and requires replacement of the spark plug. Inspect for overheating signs that include white or light gray spots and bluish-burnt electrodes because of engine overheating, wrong fuel use, loose plugs or heat-range improper plugs and low fuel pressure or incorrect timing which require replacing the spark plugs with new ones. Examine fused deposits which look like bubbles or blisters from sudden acceleration since their presence requires replacement of the spark plugs.

Inspect them and adjust the spark plug gap as necessary before reinstalling them.

A slight twisting motion will help break the seal for easier removal.

First, remove the ignition coil.

Reconnect the ignition coil electrical connectors and finally reconnect the battery ground cable.
