Serpentine Belt

Placement of the vehicle in NEUTRAL position alongside hoisting it is essential before commencing accessory drive belt servicing. The accessory drive belt tensioner along with its pulleys and the generator pulley must never receive lubrication since this practice degrades belt materials and tensioner vibration control elements; thus avoid using any fluid or belt dressing products. First use an appropriate belt tensioner release tool to rotate the accessory drive belt tensioner through a clockwise movement for removing the belt from its position on the generator pulley. Following steps begin with remover of both the 7 pin-type retainers alongside the right-hand splash shield. As the next step after removing the right-hand splash shield from underneath the vehicle proceed with the accessory drive belt removal. Installation of the new belt requires following the reverse steps of removal that should include proper pulley alignment after completion.

Service of the accessory drive belt starts by positioning the vehicle in NEUTRAL on a hoist. The top part requires a suitable belt tensioner release tool which allows clockwise rotation of the accessory drive belt tensioner to pull the belt free from the generator pulley. The service of accessory drive belt begins by removing 7 pin-type retainers and the right-hand splash shield. The accessory drive belt must be removed once you access it from underneath the vehicle. You can install the new accessory drive belt onto the pulleys apart from the generator pulley while ensuring the belt fits properly onto each pulley. From above run the tensioner clockwise by using the belt tool to put the belt on the generator pulley. The right-hand splash shield needs installation along with fixing it into position through the 7 pin-type retainers. Emissions from lubrication should never reach the accessory drive belt nor the tensioner nor the pulleys because they can damage both the belt material and tensioner damping mechanism.
