2001 Ford E-150 Econoline A/C Hose Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service the A/C Hose on 2001 Ford E-150 Econoline?
A: Service of the HVAC hose/line begins with both Refrigerant Discharging and Recovery Procedure completion followed by disconnecting the battery ground cable. Service the HVAC hose/line by beginning with engine Air Cleaner (ACL) and air cleaner outlet tube removal followed by isolating the compressor discharge line and unscrewing the line. The service requires disconnecting condenser core refrigerant lines by using a wrench on each fitting side to prevent accidental damage while detaching the compressor discharge line from the condenser to evaporator tube. To disconnect the A/C evaporator core fitting first remove its screw followed by unscrewing the fitting from its location while applying a wrench to both sides for safety. Disconnect the condenser to evaporator tube from its position. The installation of the new condenser to evaporator tube requires the correct amount of PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil (R-134a Systems) F7AZ-19589-DA (Motorcraft YN-12-C) or an equivalent meeting Ford specification WSH-M1C231-B. After routing the condenser to evaporator tube users must lubricate new O-ring seals with PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil before fitting them. Inside the fitting tighten the screw through use of a wrench tool on both sides to avoid damaging the parts. Secure the condenser core refrigerant lines by reapplying the same PAG Refrigerant Compressor Oil to new O-ring seals before attaching the condenser to evaporator tube and the compressor discharge line while using a wrench on both sides for proper attachment. The engine air cleaner and air cleaner outlet tube can be replaced after installing both the compressor discharge line isolator and screw. Reconnect the ground cable from the battery while closing the procedure by evacuating then charging the A/C system.
