How to service and repair the rear parking brake cable on 2001 Ford Escape?

Starting the rear parking brake cable service includes taking off the rear brake shoes from the drums first. First disconnect the rear parking brake cable from the backing plates through its removal from the knuckle bucket bolts. First disconnect the rear parking brake cable bracket by removing bolts then separate the RH side rear parking brake cable. First remove the RH side rear parking brake cable from both its positions which connect it to the front parking brake cable and the parking brake bracket. Connectors must be detached beginning with the rear parking brake cable from the fuel tank support strap then follow with the front parking brake cable. The removal of the two bolts will enable you to disconnect the LH rear parking brake cable from its position on the parking brake bracket. The installation process will be finished using the reverse order of removal.
