The service begins with disconnection of the tube from the exhaust gas recirculation valve then removal of the valve itself while also disconnecting the vacuum hose. Service procedures require you to clear debris from both intake manifold gasket faces as well as the exhaust gas recirculation valve while preventing debris from entering either part. You need to place the EGR valve correctly before fastening it with bolts using the new exhaust gas recirculation valve gasket. Reposition the vacuum hose after you connect the EGR tube and place the idle air control valve into its proper position.
