2002 Ford F-150 Vehicle Speed Sensor Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to service and repair the Vehicle Speed Sensor on 2002 Ford F-150?
A: It is essential to raise your vehicle while you support it before maintenance work begins on the Transmission Speed Sensor. Separate the functioning sensor from the system when it is either the Output Shaft Speed (OSS) or Turbine Shaft Speed (TSS) sensor. Start by removing the bolt from TSS before extracting the sensor when removal is needed. Place the Heated Oxygen Sensor connector to a position where it does not interfere. The OSS sensor service requires you to first disassemble its bolt and afterward remove the sensor from its connection point. The O-ring should be lubricated before installing the OSS sensor piece with its bolt for installation. Reinstall the HO2S connector in its proper position for the unit. Fitting the TSS requires applying lubricant to its O-ring before installing and securing the sensor with the bolt. The installation process ends with reconnecting the affected sensor either OSS or TSS and lowering the vehicle.
